In which the studio undergoes a sea change

Yes, we know it’s been a while since an update appeared on the Bent Tuba blog. Over the past few months, Bent Tuba Studio has undergone a sea change. We’ve been on hiatus since June of this year, with the intention of cleaning and organizing the studio. What Nicki and I realized during that time: our deepest desire is to renew the studio’s original purpose as our own shared and vibrant art-making space, with a focus on allowing our natural creative processes to unfold at their own pace. So, with that in mind, we’re shifting away from paid classes and structured drop-in times.

Instead, we’d like to open the studio to the community several times a year, at no charge, to welcome friends and neighbors for music, good food, and creative fun.

Save the Date!

Please plan to join us for our second annual Studio Solstice Party. It’ll be on Saturday, December 21 at 2-5 p.m.  You’re invited to bring seasonal music, a snack to share, and/or friends and family members. Of course, there will also be art supplies to play with–because that’s what we’re (still) all about. Get more information (and timely reminders!) by subscribing to our email newsletter at the top of this page.

Meanwhile, if you’d like to see photos from Nicki’s experience as an artist-in-residence at the Cancer Center in Greensboro, or the papier-mache sun puppet that she’s been creating for Epiphany Presbyterian Church to use in their annual solstice celebration, check out our Facebook page.
